The Chesapeake Bay is the most studied estuary in the world. A selection of the reports and studies reviewed by the Coalition
in furtherance of our mission are organized below as follows: Bay Cleanup Costs, Conowingo Dam, Oysters, and TMDL/WIP. This information offers valuable
insight into the economic and environmental issues facing the health of the Chesapeake Bay. Additionally, the referenced studies validate the Coalition's concerns with the affordability
and efficacy of the Bay TMDL and Maryland's WIP. While reviewing the available material, keep in mind the extraordinary costs being imposed upon local governments (read taxpayers) to
implement the agendas established by the State and EPA; without due regard for the effectiveness of the mandates, the lack of conclusive supporting science or the ever-increasing nutrient
and sediment loadings to the Bay from the Susquehanna River due to the loss of trapping capacity in reservoirs above the Conowingo Dam.
